Makeup

Posted on: September 1, 2012

Yesterday, I applied some heavy-duty sunscreen and then dusted with powder to reduce shine. I decided that after contact with the sunscreen, it’d be a great time to shampoo my makeup brushes.

I’ve been working with makeup a lot lately, and I’ve cycled through some different products.

As it stands, my current makeup wishlist is:

-a new liquid foundation: After reading reviews and consulting my favorite makeup tumblr (drugstore princess), I purchased my first liquid foundation. Previously, I had always used powder, and as a result, looked pretty bare bones and shiny by the end of the day. My concealer wore off too fast, and the redness took over my face. I needed something with moderate coverage and a long-lasting formula. I tested out Revlon’s Colorstay liquid foundation for oily/combination skin in 110 ivory. It reacted badly with my setting powder from Bare Escentuals, and appeared bright red in natural light. It would not blend, and looked awkward on my skin. On the other hand, it offered great coverage and hardly wore off as the day went on. I knew I had to stop using it when my friend approached me and told me how red my skin looked, however. I’m now looking into a different foundation that will match my pale skin better and work with my other products.

-a new blush brush: As I was shampooing my old one, it was shedding way too much. My old one is a cheapo brush I picked up in a kit from CVS nearly three years ago. It’s time to upgrade.

-new blush: I haven’t bought any new blush in years. The color I have is so pale, it hardly shows up on my skin. I’m not very good at application, but I think a new shade will do wonders.

I also just started a new regimen. I’m applying scar cream to try to reduce the scars that run all down my arms, back, and chest. It got to the point where I was embarrassed to wear lower-cut tops with how red and scarred my skin was. I understand that these things take time, but applying the cream 3-4 times a days for 6-8 weeks sounds like it’ll take forever. ): I hope it works, because the cream I have is the cheapest available.

Hair growth progress- As of June 2015- I regularly trim my own bangs and they look amazing- choppy and short. The split ends have ruined lives and murdered small children. I haven't had a proper salon cut since July 2013. I might get a trim of 4ish inches by the end of the summer? I'm lazy.
